Ever wondered what 20,000 pounds of Travertine looks like?!

Well, GeoDwellers, the trucks came today with the Travertine for our new floors! And if you've ever mused over what a certain quantity of natural stone would look like when it shows up on your doorstep, don't under estimate the heft of Travertine. Travertine is a type of Limestone that forms around mineral spring deposits. It is a terrestrial sedimentary rock, formed by the precipitation of carbonate minerals from solution in ground and surface waters, and/or geothermally heated hot springs. It is one of the oldest building materials in existence and lends a sense of age and reserved dignity to any environment and is classically stylish in subdued earth tones. AND it's downright HEAVY!
We will be covering a little over 2,000 square feet in Travertine and were a little astounded when the delivery service called to ask where we intended to store 20,000 pounds of it, and "Did we have a forklift on the site"?! Naturally, we don't have a forklift handy, so our poor deliverymen did a super human job of unpacking and unloading all 20,000 pounds onto our driveway in the 100 degree heat. No doubt, we were very grateful for their labor. You kind of get the sense of how significant and awe inspiring ancient architecture is when you consider the large quantities used in building wonders such as St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City.
And while we anticipate the laying of this magnificent natural stone, the demolition continues... eeee gads! Dust, dust and more dust continues to cover our home, while the master of the house and I "hide" upstairs while the downstairs is a true construction zone.
Never fear, GeoDwellers! The show must go on, and our clients are still receiving our very best attention as summer home sales are coming "hot & fast" as school starts and end of season transactions are wrapping up. This is our home office worksite... and you can tell we are hard at work, regardless of the state of our palace, currently :)
And when rest does come at the end of a long day, we have our impromptu dinners here whilst watching Seasons 1, 2 and 3 of our current favorite show, Riverdale! Who is your favorite character, by the way? My niece Peyton's fav, is Jughead; what about you? We want to know!
Stay tuned to our tale of Remodeling the Carnival! Next, we'll have a sneak peak of more of the amazing new materials to be revealed in our GeoDwell design! Onward....
